The rescue of a mouse

I walked outside one morning to take the trash out and I saw something move and squeal on the side of the house. I did a double take.... I couldn't quite figure out what would be hanging down from the bottom of our house. I got closer and saw that it was a mouse. It was frantically clawing and trying to get away, but it was not going anywhere. It was totally stuck. I wrapped a plastic bag around the end of a wooden spoon and tried to see if I could help push it's rear end out.... but it wasn't going anywhere. So, I waited for Travis. He came out to assess the situation. He said.... we need something to grease it up with. Then maybe it could crawl out by itself. I suggested Pam. We sprayed the end of the mouse all over w/ pam and Travis went to work on getting it out. Even though it was a mouse.... I really felt sorry for it. What a horrible way to die. Well, Travis got some really small sticks and worked the grease around the rear end of the mouse. Still wasn't coming out. He finally got a pair of thick gloves and started to pull it. He stopped because he thought he might be pulling it apart... anyway, one more tug a little more pam and he finally was able to claw himself out. We caught him in a bucket.... and he was so greased up... he didn't go anywhere. The girls really wanted to give it some cheese. So, we gave it some cheese and Travis drove it down the road and let it go in a field. Quite the eventful morning. I think I scrubbed my hands raw.... even though I never came into contact with it... it just made me feel dirty. Definitely lost my appetite for the rest of the day. Favorite conversation with the girls about this....... Hallie said, " We need to help the mousie get out so it can go home.... (me) Yah, we need to help him get out so he can go home to his mousie house and to his mousie bed.....(maddy and hallie) Yes, yes!!!
