Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was at My house this year.  I decided to try my attempt at a festive table scape.  I made this wooden box and filled it with candles leaves, berries, nuts.  I then made this grey Paisley table runner to help tie in my grey floral china to all these fall colors.   I also put the grey runner on top of a layer of burlap.  It was fun to make this and the girls enjoyed setting the table.

Travis' mom opened up an adorable Pie shop just a couple months prior to Thanksgiving.  So, Travis' mom was super busy this past Thanksgiving week filling Pie orders.  We usually have a Fabulous Thanksgiving meal at her house but since they were beyond busy this year, we had it at my house.  I really wanted to carry-out a fabulous meal this year.  So, after we split up duties I went to work finding a great Turkey recipe.  I used Alton Brown's technique for brining a turkey.  Used his red wine gravy and OH MY Gosh.   Best turkey Travis and I had ever had.  I got compliments all night on how moist it was, even the white meat.  I don't take credit though.  I merely followed EXACT directions from Alton Brown.  BUT, if you ever need an amazing recipe, use his!!  It was a great night with lots of great food!  Cheryl brought pies, pies, and more pies.  Oh it was wonderful! We had a huge assortment of pies and it was so fun to try all of the ones we had been drooling over the past few months.
