First day of Soccer

First day of Soccer practice and Mom's excited, Maddy's excited and everything is going to be perfect..... right? Well, that's not exactly what happened. Apparently the actual game of soccer
wasn't what she was expecting. She also was very disappointed that she didn't have a girl coach. Most of the practice went like this
Coach: Maddy here lets do this
Maddy: shakes her head no or runs off the field to mom or dad.
Finally near the end she started participating and did really well and looked like she had fun. However at the end, she would not participate in a group huddle and was the only one to sit outside the circle arms folded and frowning.
So, today we had practice #2 and it was with a new team and coach because of schedule conflicts and I think it went much better. She needed a lot and I mean a lot of positive reinforcement and encouragement.... but the angry stomping off the field tantrum didn't happen at all. So, I'm thinking that's a step in the right direction.
